A moving farewell took place in Blenheim this week as an unidentified stillborn baby, found on the side of a Marlborough road earlier this year, was laid to rest with compassion and the support of the local community.
The service brought together Police, iwi, community leaders, local organisations and members of the public, ensuring the baby was not farewelled alone. It was a powerful reminder that every life deserves to be honoured with care and respect.
Among those who helped make the service possible was Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand member firm Sowman's Funerals, who generously donated their professional services as part of the community effort. Their contribution reflects the compassion, professionalism and commitment that funeral directors bring to families and communities every day.
